Two-Phase Treatment Fusion Dental & Braces

Two-Phase Orthodontic Treatment at Fusion Dental & Braces

Building Healthy Smiles from an Early Age

At Fusion Dental & Braces, we believe a healthy, confident smile starts with early, expert care. Led by Dr. Johnny Choufani, our team specializes in guiding your child’s dental development to achieve lasting results. One of the most effective methods we use for young patients is two-phase orthodontic treatment. This proactive approach helps us address underlying issues early, creating the ideal foundation for a beautiful, functional smile that lasts a lifetime.

What is Two-Phase Orthodontic Treatment?

Two-phase orthodontic treatment is a specialized process that involves two distinct periods of orthodontic care. This approach allows us to work with your child’s natural growth to correct issues before they become more complex.

  • Phase One: This initial phase begins while your child still has a mix of baby and permanent teeth. The primary goal is not just to straighten teeth, but to guide the growth of the jaw and create a proper environment for permanent teeth to emerge. Early orthodontic care can correct significant bite problems, prevent developing issues from worsening, and may reduce the need for more invasive treatments later on.
  • Resting Period: After Phase One, we take a break to monitor the growth of the remaining permanent teeth. This allows your child’s jaw and teeth to develop naturally into the improved positions we’ve established.
  • Phase Two: This phase typically starts once most or all of the permanent teeth are in place. The goal is to align the teeth and bite into their final, optimal positions, ensuring a beautiful smile and a healthy, functional bite.

Benefits of Two-Phase Treatment?

Some orthodontic problems are much easier to correct when they are identified at a young age. By intervening early, orthodontic treatment can leverage your child’s growth and development to achieve results that might not be possible once the face and jaws have finished growing.

The goals of two-phase orthodontic treatment include:

  • Addressing issues that may affect the normal loss of baby teeth and impact the eruption of the permanent teeth
  • Several issues warrant early treatment (please refer to the AAO document showing “Problems to watch out for in 7-year-olds) and incorporate the image
  • somewhere here. Please also apply the same to the adult and teen pages.
  • Improving the alignment of teeth for both function and appearance.
  • Positioning teeth and jaws to enhance facial symmetry and create a balanced profile
